MEET YOUR GUIDE
As the creator of Storied Life Journal, an award-winning Pennwriters author, licensed speech-language pathologist, certified book coach, and journal writing facilitator, I’ve seen firsthand how the power of language can transform lives.
My journey took an unexpected turn when I began teaching journal writing at the Erie Cancer Wellness Center. This experience, along with my own medical journey through midlife and menopause, underscored how essential it is for women to share their stories. Now, I guide other women through their own transformations—from navigating hot flashes to finally writing that book they’ve dreamed about for decades.
As a book coach, I specialize in helping midlife women claim their voice and share their wisdom, guiding them from their first idea to a finished manuscript. Whether through journaling workshops, grief support groups, or one-on-one coaching, I create spaces for women to explore their next chapter—literally and figuratively.
When I’m not teaching at ECWC or presenting at Pennwriters conferences, you’ll find me on the pickleball court or starting each day with my own journaling practice, a ritual as essential as my morning coffee.

The Joy of Story program started as a playbook of journaling tools. Karen, like a sideline coach, encourages participants to use their strengths and find the gift in putting pen to paper. The mission is to promote individual expression and creativity through journaling, aiming to bring more joy into life. Karen looks forward to helping you tell your story.
